Essential oil - Organic Eucalyptus globulus

MUSCLES & JOINTS BRUISES, BLOWS, BUMPS NATURAL DEFENSES

Eucalyptus globulus goes by several names: common eucalyptus, but also blue gum. It's a very tall tree, capable of reaching 90 meters in height! The plant is evergreen, meaning it retains its leaves all year round. It belongs to the Myrtaceae family and, like other types of eucalyptus, has bark that peels off in long strips.

In young trees, the leaves are 6 to 15 cm long, and the tree's surface is covered with a layer of blue-grey pruina. This is where its name, blue gum, comes from. On older trees, leaves appear on cylindrical stems. They are narrow, alternate, and scythe-shaped. Dark green in color, they can reach up to 35 cm in length.

The flowers are cream-colored and grow in the leaf axils. Rich in nectar, they are a delight for bees!
As for the fruits, they are woody, form a hard capsule, and measure 1.5 to 2.5 cm in diameter.

Cultivation & Origin

Eucalyptus globulus is native to Australia and Tasmania. It has been exported and cultivated worldwide due to its numerous uses: firewood, paper pulp, and of course, for its essential oil.
Eucalyptus is found in many health and wellness products, particularly those aimed at clearing respiratory passages. More potent than other eucalyptus essential oils, such as radiata, eucalyptus globulus essential oil must be used with caution, especially when diffused into the air, as it can be irritating to mucous membranes. In terms of yield, approximately 100kg of eucalyptus globulus leaves are needed to obtain 2kg of essential oil.

Health Benefits

Promotes respiratory well-being:

  • Organic eucalyptus globulus essential oil is rich in therapeutic properties due to its high content of eucalyptol and alpha-pinene. It is very often used to treat various respiratory tract infections. Indeed, the essence has a powerful antiviral and antibacterial activity that allows for a quick and natural return to comfort in cases of respiratory infections. Thanks to its expectorant properties, eucalyptol promotes the motility of ciliary cells in the respiratory tract, which also improves mucus clearance. This is why organic eucalyptus globulus oil is recommended in cases of respiratory congestion to help restore daily comfort, especially during the winter season.

Helps muscle relaxation after exertion:

  • Like radiata eucalyptus essential oil, eucalyptus globulus essential oil can also be recommended for athletes. It is indeed an effective remedy against cramps and muscle fatigue that can occur after exertion. Thanks to its anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, it also helps to restore joint comfort in cases of tension. Furthermore, the eucalyptol contained in this essential oil promotes the skin penetration of other active ingredients, offering greater efficacy when the essential oil is combined with other ingredients.

Repels mosquitoes:

  • Organic eucalyptus globulus essential oil is also a natural repellent that works very well to keep mosquitoes away during outdoor summer evenings! Diffused indoors in combination with other essential oils such as citronella, it effectively repels insects and prevents the growth of larvae. In addition, thanks to its antiseptic effects, the substance helps purify the air and limit the multiplication of viruses and bacteria in the ambient environment.

Cosmetic Properties

Helps regulate sebum production and promote a healthy scalp:

  • Organic eucalyptus globulus essential oil is also used in cosmetic care. It can be particularly used as a purifying agent, for example to combat dandruff and restore a healthy scalp thanks to its antifungal properties.
It can also be incorporated into facial care, in combination with other essential oils and diluted in a vegetable oil to help purify combination to oily skin, limit the appearance and proliferation of acne breakouts, and soothe the skin.

Usage Tips

Organic eucalyptus globulus essential oil provides natural support for daily well-being, especially during the winter season. It is primarily used for its respiratory benefits, as support during infections or to help decongest the respiratory tract in combination with other essential oils, thanks to the eucalyptol it contains.

Uplifting, calming, and refreshing, it has a pleasant scent that purifies and cleanses the ambient air, particularly useful during the winter season!

Organic eucalyptus globulus essential oil can be used alone, or in synergy with other essential oils to reinforce or complement its various virtues.
