STRESS & FATIGUE DRY & SENSITIVE SKIN
An herbaceous plant belonging to the Asteraceae family, Roman chamomile grows in many parts of the world, particularly in Europe and North Africa.
Very easy to cultivate, chamomile is appreciated for its pretty green foliage and its white and yellow flowers, which resemble those of the daisy. It is mainly used as an ornamental plant, but also for its medicinal and repellent properties against many insects.
Roman chamomile is a summer plant, which only blooms from July to September.

Cultivation & Origin
Although its name suggests that Roman chamomile originated in Italy, legend has it that its origin is rather in Greece, where the physician Galen discovered its properties against headaches in the 2nd century.
It was used as a medicinal plant by the Celts, then by the Romans before being studied by several French botanists during the 18th century. At that time, Roman chamomile was already renowned for its antispasmodic and soothing properties on the skin.
Nowadays, Roman chamomile is found in Western Europe, but also in Central and Eastern Europe, Australia, New Zealand and North America. To produce the essential oil, the flowering tops are distilled: approximately 100 kg of flowers are needed to obtain between 400 and 900 ml of essential oil, which justifies its rather high price.
