These moxas are made of pure Mugwort (Artemisia Vulgaris) and charcoal, without the addition of medicinal plants.

Manufactured directly in China, in the Jiangsu province known for its production of acupuncture needles, these moxas respect the precepts of traditional Chinese medicine. Once lit, their slow combustion allows the acupuncture points to be heated to stimulate them.

Moxibustion

The benefits

Moxibustion helps relieve certain chronic pains, particularly joint and muscle pain, by providing penetrating warmth. It is also used to improve digestion, boost immunity, and reduce fatigue. Some practices use it to address stress or sleep-related disorders.

Pure or smokeless mugwort moxa

We offer two types of moxas:

Pure mugwort moxas made of pure mugwort and charcoal, with no added medicinal plants. These moxas respect the precepts of traditional Chinese medicine.

Smokeless moxas made of mugwort mixed with essential plants from the Chinese pharmacopoeia such as Qiang huo or Asarum. Compressed into rigid sticks, they are easy to use and emit no smoke or bad odors.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the properties of Mugwort?

Mugwort (Artemisia) is a medicinal plant used since antiquity in Europe and Asia. It has many benefits: it promotes digestion, soothes the nervous system, strengthens natural defenses, etc. It is traditionally used in Asia in moxibustion (rolled into moxas that are burned on acupuncture points).

How do you know which acupuncture point to activate with moxa?

You can read our Moxibustion Practical Guides, which will explain in detail how to release energy using acupuncture points.

What is the difference between acupuncture and moxibustion?

Acupuncture and moxibustion are two techniques originating from traditional Chinese medicine. They are based on the same principles (the circulation of energy, called Qi), but use different methods. Acupuncture uses very fine needles inserted into the body's meridians. Moxibustion uses heat by burning a plant near the meridians.
