While the origin of the Bergamot tree remains unknown, it has been cultivated in Italy since the 18th century for its fruits. This shrub, growing up to 4 meters tall, produces fruits resembling small oranges, with a flavor reminiscent of bitter orange or lime. The juicy, acidic pulp of the Bergamot emits a fresh aroma highly sought after in perfumery. Indeed, Bergamot is a key ingredient in the composition of the famous Eau de Cologne.
