Author biography:
Yves Réquéna, a French physician, specialized in acupuncture during his medical studies starting in 1971. Having defended his doctoral thesis in Marseille in 1974 as a pioneer on the subject of acupuncture in gastroenterology, he discovered, a year after graduating in 1975, the treatment to stop smoking with two needles in a single session. He published with his colleagues a scientific experiment on 1353 controlled tobacco cessation cases in a hospital setting, which led to international publications.
He then taught acupuncture at the Faculty of Medicine in Marseille and focused his research on the notion of terrains in acupuncture, constitutions, and temperaments, striving to demonstrate the link between character, emotions, meridian energies, and diseases.
