A member of the Lamiaceae family, rosemary is a perennial shrub native to the Mediterranean garrigue and maquis. It is recognizable by its dark green leaves on top and whitish underneath, which are persistent and leathery. Rosemary is much appreciated in gardens for its beautiful blue flowers with violet hues. They appear at the end of the cold season, at the beginning of February.

Rosemary is native to the Mediterranean basin. Warmth and light are all it needs to thrive.
The virtues of rosemary have been known for several millennia. Indeed, as early as ancient times and in the era of ancient Greece, rosemary was considered a plant blessed by the gods. During the age of great sea voyages on sailing ships, rosemary was often on board to prepare various remedies.
Later, in the 14th century, Hungarian perfumery produced large quantities of rosemary essential oil. In the country, this essence is considered a true elixir of youth. Indeed, according to legend, the Queen of Hungary, Elizabeth of Poland, used a rosemary-based preparation to rejuvenate and cure rheumatism in order to seduce the King of Hungary, Charles Robert.
