Cultivation & Origin

Lavandins originate from the Mediterranean basin. They prefer calcareous, light and well-drained soils. While it does not tolerate cold very well, lavandin thrives in a dry climate. Moreover, the plant needs to be well exposed to the sun to grow properly, which is why it is mainly found in Provence and neighboring countries. The distillation yield of lavandin is 2 times higher than that of fine lavender, which explains its price difference.
