PROBLEM & OILY SKIN MATURE SKIN DISINFECTION
Originating from South Africa, rose geranium is a species of pelargonium. The plant can reach a height of 60 cm. Covered with hairs, the leaves contain a large quantity of aromatic molecules, diffusing a pleasant and flowery scent, sometimes slightly lemony. The flowers are characterized by a "cluster" shape and are arranged in pairs.
Rose geranium tolerates drought quite well, but needs well-drained soil to thrive!

Cultivation & Origin

Pelargonium asperum is one of the 500 species of geraniums found all over the globe! The origin of rose geranium is traditionally attributed to France, more precisely to the Grasse region, before traces of its cultivation were found in North Africa, South Africa and on Reunion Island.
The largest current producers of rose geranium essential oil are China, Egypt, Morocco, the Comoros Islands and Reunion Island. Rose geranium essential oil is valued both for its medicinal properties and, above all, for its floral fragrance, which is used in many perfumes by renowned designers such as Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent and Fabergé.
It should be noted that rose geranium essential oil comes in 3 chemotypes depending on its origin: cv China, cv Bourbon, and cv Egypt, with similar benefits but a slightly varying composition due to their different geographical origins.
Health Properties
Helps to find comfort in case of tension :
-
Rich in esters and monoterpenic aldehydes, rose geranium essential oil has significant anti-inflammatory benefits.
It is thus recommended for massage, diluted in a vegetable oil, on sensitive areas in case of joint tension, but also for diffusion to limit inflammation of the respiratory tract or for local application to combat oral cavity disorders.
Promotes feminine well-being :
-
Throughout her life, a woman undergoes many transformations, especially during menopause. Organic rose geranium essential oil has an action on the hormonal system. It will help to find comfort in case of premenstrual syndrome, painful cramps during periods or to alleviate certain symptoms of menopause such as hot flashes and irritability.
It will also be recommended as a support in the treatment of urogenital infections thanks to its antibacterial and antifungal properties.
Fights stress :
-
Harmonizing and positive, rose geranium essential oil will also be recommended to relieve stress and anxiety.
Diffused in the air for a few minutes or through olfaction, it helps to improve mood, regain self-confidence and naturally calm the mind. It can be used alone or in combination with other relaxing essential oils such as true lavender essential oil, petitgrain bigarade or Roman chamomile.
Keeps insects away :
-
The powerful and lemony scent released by the leaves and flowers of rose geranium is also a very good repellent against unwanted insects, especially mosquitoes!
The high concentration of neral, geranial, and citronellol in rose geranium can thus be used for diffusion in the ambient air, or to make repellent sprays or protective body oils. For this use, it can be employed alone, or with lemongrass or fine lavender essential oil to enhance its repellent properties.
Cosmetic Properties
Helps eliminate skin infections :
-
Organic rose geranium essential oil has very interesting antibacterial and antifungal properties to fight against skin affections caused by bacteria or fungi. It contains geraniol and, to a lesser extent, citronellol with anti-infectious virtues. Applied to the skin diluted in a vegetable oil on the affected areas or added to homemade cosmetic care, it will help to find healthier skin, but also to bring a flowery and pleasant scent to your recipes!
Promotes healing of small wounds :
-
A powerful antibacterial, rose geranium essential oil is also healing, firming and anti-inflammatory. It is a highly favored essential oil for caring for mature skin and skin prone to skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis.
It will therefore be particularly recommended for local application diluted in a vegetable oil, or in cosmetic care such as day or night creams, serums or face masks.
It will also help to heal small cuts, stings and acne spots more quickly and will stop minor skin bleeding thanks to its hemostatic properties.
Balances sebum production :
-
Organic rose geranium essential oil will be the ally of all skin types! From mature skin to combination to oily skin. It naturally balances sebum production, both on the skin and on the scalp. It can therefore be used as a purifying mask or added to an oil bath in combination with palmarosa or tea tree essential oils, for example.
Stimulates lymphatic circulation :
-
In body care, rose geranium essential oil offers interesting circulatory properties to promote body drainage and facilitate the elimination of toxins and waste accumulated in the body. Used regularly in massages diluted in a vegetable oil and in combination with a healthy diet, it will help combat the heavy leg sensation and the formation of cellulite.
