STRESS & FATIGUE PROBLEM & OILY SKIN NATURAL DEFENSES
A medium-sized tree, the citrus limon, also known as the four-season lemon tree, has large, delicately scented leaves. During the summer, the lemon tree is adorned with beautiful pollen-filled flowers, which release their powerful fragrance to the delight of bees.
With its evergreen and abundant foliage, the citrus limon flowers several times a year. It is generally found in the Mediterranean basin, as its resistance to cold temperatures is quite limited.
- INCI Name: Citrus limon peel oil
- Botanical Name: Citrus Limon
- Part of the plant extracted: Fruit zest
- Extraction process: Cold pressing
Culture & Origin
The origin of the lemon tree is quite unclear. Some studies suggest it appeared in Asia, more precisely in China or Burma. Other research places its origins in the Mediterranean, where it is believed to have resulted from the combination of two plants: the bitter orange tree and the citron tree.
Traditionally, citrus limon was used as an ornamental plant in lush gardens. Its aromatic properties were then exploited in culinary use as a seasoning, but also as a preservative for meats, particularly during Antiquity.
Subsequently, its medicinal properties revealed a beneficial action against scurvy thanks to its rich vitamin C composition.
Health Properties
An essential in aromatherapy, organic lemon essential oil is one of the most used oils for natural self-care.
Fights digestive disorders :
-
Lemon essential oil is highly recommended for fighting all types of digestive disorders. It naturally promotes digestion, limits the appearance of nausea, and reduces stomach acid thanks to its biochemical composition rich in limonene.
Provides a detoxifying effect :

When you want to take care of yourself with essential oils, especially orally, it is advisable to combine the chosen essential oil with a protective essential oil for the liver, including lemon essential oil. This limits the potential toxic effects of certain essential oils on the liver. Rich in monoterpenes, like most citrus or pine essential oils, organic lemon essential oil is antibacterial and antiseptic. Used in ambient air diffusion, it helps to sanitize and naturally purify the ambient air and eliminate bad odors in the kitchen or bathroom. It can be used alone or in combination with other essential oils in synergy to enhance its sanitizing and purifying properties.

-
Antioxidant, lemon essential oil naturally fights against the formation of free radicals responsible for skin aging. It will also be an interesting beauty ally to bring radiance to dull, tired, or stress/pollution exposed skin.
Helps balance sebum production :
-
Sanitizing and purifying, organic lemon essential oil can also be recommended for mixed, oily, and acne-prone skin, as well as oily hair prone to dandruff.
Incorporated into toners, shampoos, or treatments, it helps to gently purify the skin and scalp and rebalance sebum production.
Usage Tips
Mainly used in cosmetic applications and for atmospheric diffusion, lemon essential oil is soluble in alcohol, fatty substances such as vegetable oils and butters, as well as emulsions.

In cosmetics, it is recommended for mixed, oily, acne-prone, or dull skin. It can also be used on nails, particularly to help strengthen them and limit yellowing. Finally, its toning, positive, and stimulating scent makes it a very pleasant essential oil to use for fragrancing the home and purifying the air!
